Colonel Photon
1985-2000
A distinguished gentleman,
truly worthy of the title,
"King of Terriers".
|
|
COLONEL PHOTON
Colonel Photon was a senior dog that Gena
rescued. He loved to go on walks, raid
the garbage, move his bed over the air conditioning vent, throw
big knucklebones in the air, get his ears scratched, and take naps. Despite
his advanced age and arthritis he demanded the respect, due a
senior citizen, from the much younger and larger Rita and
Ellie. In his final hours he'd lost his appetite. I
gave him a biscuit and he guarded it. One of the big dogs
came to steal it and Photon, unable to even get up, snarled and
growled and successfully defended HIS biscuit! He didn't
want to eat it, but it was his and he wasn't giving it up to any
dog, no matter how large. Colonel Photon personified the
terrier spirit.

CLARA
Clara was Trudy's genetic half-sister. She came to live
with us in January 1995, at the age of 8 weeks. Clara is no
longer with us, having crossed the rainbow bridge on December
23rd, 2001, due to severe pancreatitis. Clara was a very
loving, loyal, Airedale with her very own sense of humor.
Gena wrote the following a few hours after Clara left us:
Our
hearts are breaking, but we know she is better off romping on the
other side than existing here with us, haunted by pain and ill
health.
I
will always cherish having played the "I'm gonna get your
breakfast" game with her, and smile when I think of her
turbo-kissyface power tongue, the thank-you kisses she always
planted on my elbow to thank me for her dinner, and her talent for
Clara-voyance (she always sensed when Chuck was angry, even if he
was miles away at work!)
God
bless your fuzzy little soul, Clara Bear
You
were well-loved and are already deeply missed by all of us
even
Rita..
(and
yes, I must finally admit it, you were the cutest one! )

TRUDY
Trudy was an incredible dog. She excelled
in obedience, tracking, flyball, and agility. Despite her
advanced education she never lost her dignified personality or her
zest for life. Trudy injured a knee when she was 10 year old
and despite only having the use of three legs, she jumped of a
four foot ledge into a creek to fetch a stick. She regained
the use of that leg after a successful surgery.
She bonded with Chuck and devoted herself to
being HIS dog. She always watched his back and warned him
when anyone else was approaching. Even when it was Gena or
one of the other dogs.
Trudy's didn't have an aggressive bone in her
body and loved everyone.
