Language Courses

Placement in conversation course will be made through a test and classes are limited to 18 students or less.

SPN1121 Elementary Spanish II (4):
Prerequisite 1 semester of Spanish
SPN2200 Intermediate Spanish I (4):
Prerequisite 2 semesters of Spanish
SPN2201 Intermediate Spanish II (4):
Prerequisite 3 semesters of Spanish
SPN2903 Spanish Conversation I (3):
Prerequisite 2 semesters of Spanish

HUM2930 Spanish Culture and Civilization (3):

This course represents an overall view of Spain. Spain's history, art, culture, and literature are the topics emphasized in the course. Taught in English.

ART2903 Introduction to Art and Music (3):

This course is designed as an integrated survey of the visual arts, stressing the significance of the aesthetic experience of the western world. Representative tours and museum studies are selected in Madrid and Barcelona as opportunities for cultural exposure. Taught in English.

Program Director and Academic Dean - Dr. Orlando Moreno is the dean of the CFCC Communications and Fine Arts Division. He received the B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Florida and the Ph.D degree from the University of Madrid. Dr. Moreno has led study groups to Spain and Portugal since 1975. OFFERING STUDENTS COURSES IN LANGUAGE, ART, AND CULTURE

TUITION
The fee for credit courses is $47.10 per credit hour (or $141.30 for a three credit course and $188.40 for a four credit course). Participants who have never before registered for credit courses at CFCC are also required to pay a one-time-only, non-refundable $20 application fee.

ENROLLMENT
All participants must enroll as credit or audit (no-credit) students.

TEACHER RECERTIFICATION
Teachers may be able to earn recertification credits. Consult your certification specialist.

MADRID & BARCELONA
The main study portion of this program takes place in Madrid. Madrid is the political, legal, and economic center of the country, and one of the leading capitals in Europe. The city, with its many leisure activities, museums, and monuments, provides a great setting from which to learn the language and culture of Spain. Participants will be housed and take classes at the Colegio Mayor Mara. The Mara is situated in Madrid's "Ciudad Universitaria". Some of the dorm facilities are: Laundry room, dining room, snack bar, tennis court, pool, auditorium, and basketball court. The program begins in Barcelona. Barcelona is a cosmopolitan and brilliant city with an active artistic and literary life that offers many different attractions and a different perspective of Spain. Participants are housed in The Hotel Expo, a 4 star hotel, situated near "La Plaza de España" and "Montjuic".
