Chorale Director: Don Tyler Mr. Tyler has been with the Variations since its inception. In addition to selecting repertoire and planning the group's concerts, Tyler teaches Music Appreciation, voice students, and directs the choral group, Patriot Singers. Mr. Tyler's publications include "Hit Parade (An Encyclopedia of the Top Songs of the Jazz, Depression, Swing and Sing Eras)," published by Wm. Morrow and Co. in 1985; four articles in "Facts behind the Songs (A Handbook of American Popular Music from the Nineties to the '90's)," published by Garland Publishing in 1993, and approximately 25 choral publications both sacred and secular, published by various companies like Schmitt, Hall & McCreary, Abingdon, Broadman, Kjos, and Warner Brothers. Tyler has been recognized by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) with an award for teaching excellence. | |

Instrumental Director: Arthur Berman Mr. Berman joined the staff at CFCC in August 1996 as an adjunct instructor working with the Variations Band. He is a graduate of the University of Miami, where he was a member of the Band of the Hour. He received his master's degree from Florida International University. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Tau Beta Sigma/Kappa Kappa Psi. Locally, he and his wife, Diana, are members of the Ocala Optimist Club. He retired in June, 1996, after 30 years teaching, 28 in Dade County, Florida. His last 13 years were at Miami Springs Middle School, where he was the band director, Electives Department chairperson and the school's activity director. |

Choreographer: Judi McKathan Judi McKathan began her association with Variations as a performing member and student choreographer of the group in 1985. After graduating from CFCC, Mrs. McKathan returned as choreographic consultant. Mrs. McKathan's choreography has helped the group advance to a higher level of performance quality. Variations' choreography has given the group professional polish which has earned specific praise from judges at the Collegiate Showcase Invitational. |
