Introducing Variations

Variations, Central Florida Community's entertainment-oriented choral ensemble (show choir), has been in existence since 1969. It was organized by the director, Don Tyler, when he joined the CFCC faculty. During those years, the group has built quite a following. Their fall, Christmas and spring concerts are usually sold out. They now schedule Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening and Saturday and Sunday matinee performances at the Ocala campus and Sunday matinee performances of the spring concert at the Curtis Peterson auditorium in Lecanto.

The college administration considers Variations to be one of the best, if not the best, public relations tools that the college possesses.

Variations has performed at Walt Disney World, EPCOT Center, and Sea World, in addition to being a regular entertainment feature at the many conventions held in the Orlando, Florida area. The group's resume includes cruise ship performance tours in Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Aruba, Curacao, Martinique, Barbados, Columbia, Costa Rica and the Panama Canal, as well as a tour of Germany, Austria, England, Scotland and Italy. The group has also had the opportunity to work with professional entertainers, as they did during a trip to New York City when they had the chance to work with a former lead performer from the cast of "Les Miserable."
